I have a copy of Fedora Core 4 that I just picked up from a friend. Does anybody know if it will be easier to set up the network card. I really like Suse, but without internet access, computers are pretty dull and pointless to an extent.

Thanks

Possible solution to Davicom Tulip bug

Hi Jacobt,

I guess I found the solution to your networking problem.
It looks as if the Davicom Tulip driver from Suse 10 is a little buggy,
take a look at this:

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=121853

I suggest you try to use the dmfe driver instead of tulip,
the article says you are able to do this by changing the module manually in /etc/sysconfig/hardware/.

I have a very similar problem with the same card, I will try this possible solution when
I get home from work today.

Let me know if this works for you,

Have a lot of fun,

Stefan

Thanks--
I actually uninstalled Suse and I've just been trying all sorts of distributions for fun. But I really did like Suse so I'll probably go back to it sooner or later which means that I will end up with the problem again.
In which case, thank you so much, I have been waiting for an answer.
