I have to do a couple of things at class involving those above. I'm more used to a Debian system so I'm a little lost with SuSE.
1. How do I setup disk quota? I originally thought i'd install the quota package and then edit the /etc/fstab file. Well it seems that's more than is needed and one of the other guys told me you could do it through YaST. I have not yet seen it. Anyone know where?
2. Tar extraction. This would really help me out for my personal use too. I have cron setup so it tars up my www dir, home dirs, mysql db dir and others and stores them in /backup/. Anyway Say I needed to restore only a certian user dir if it was removed. How do I access and extract the dir from the tar file without extracting the whole thing. I know I could simply open and drop drag it from the window in KDE, but I was kinda chasing a command.
3. Performance & Benchmarking. With SuSE in particular I was looking for some tools for this. I did a search through the packages on the CDs and only a couple turned up, however they seemed to only be for file system BMing. I also had a look at the commands: top, ps, vmstat, but I get the feeling the teacher wants something more specific to SuSE.
If anyone has an guidance for me, please let me know it would be greatly appreciated. Oh I should also mention I have read through the man pages for a few of these and also had a small look online.
Thanks
