I'm new to SuSE. I have a lot of experience making additions to Debian derivative distributions. SuSE has me stumped. Please feel free to redirect me to a wiki or something if appropriate, because I'm just not sure where to go.
Is there an analogy that can be drawn between the apt repositories and SuSE, presumably YaST2? I see a Change Source of Installation feature on the YaST panel. Should I be entering an FTP site using this first? Are there any typical repositories that store KDE programs and so forth?
Sorry for posting such a simple question. I hope that you can help me!
Libdvdcss has some legal issues in Germany, that is why it is not offered as rpm package. But if you go to the packman homepage http://packman.links2linux.org/?action=122 , you'll find quite detailed instructions on the installation.
That's a good question, when you find out let me know. . Good thing is it is only one time that you enter the information.
Here is a clue that helped me input the information. I had already had this information on a notepad (for you, copy and paste the information into a Kwrite or Kate pad), so when I added FTPs, I simply used 'COPY' & 'PASTE', that way I didn't have to TYPE everything out. It is SO much faster and less of a chance for typos.
But seriously, if you find out your answer, post it here.

I'll file my behavior under the heading of, "Duh!" I was just browsing to the individual FTP sites, then grabbing the right text from the menu bar. Beat typing it in by hand, but I like your idea better.
I got them all added in the meantime anyway, but if I find the file, I'll let you know. The only thing I could locate was an .XML file that appeared to program the menu system for YaST2.
Thx again for your kind advice. You've given me a nice start!
The installation sources are stored in /var/adm/YaST/InstSrcManager/, but this information can't easily be edited. But you can add new sources from command-line with
