have you manually setup your card or is it under automatic network settings? try setting it up manually, fill in your ip and network settings, try that. I use a netgear card and i had the same problem but all i did was re set it and that was it...good luck

Thanks Carlos...When I set it up manually, and they are asking for my IP, do they want the router address or the IP from my ISP...thanks again

You will want to put the DNS servers(which realistically may be the only issue) in. These are the ones assigned by your ISP's DHCP server to your router. You can check them on the router, or the modem.

Do this only if it is not just a DNS issue(aka you can go to the IP address of web sites, but not the URL:
As for your IP address, they want the IP address you are assigning to the NIC. Basically, you can pick anything valid in the range allowed by your router. Then you need to put the router's IP address in under the routing section, as the default gateway.

Thanks for the help...I've worked on this for days will no avail...I think the problem is that I might not be understanding the terminology that Suse is using compared to the D-Link terminology. Maybe someone can explain the difference to me..

In Suse..What should these values be in comparison to the router?

Host Name ?
Domain Name ?
Name Server 1,2,3 ?
Domain Name 1,2,3 ?

Default Gateway?
DHCP Client Options ?

In The Network and Setup area..

Auto DHCP or Static ?
and forthe ip address do they want my ISP Ip or the IP of the router?

Thanks again..

Valid questions, all.

Linux - Windows/DLink
Host Name - Computer Name
Domain Name - Domain Name
Name Server 1, 2, 3 - Primary Secondary and Tertiary DNS servers(Windows only allows 2, so primary and secondary)
Domain Name 1, 2, 3... No clue, I just leave them as site, blank, blank.
Default Gateway - Default Gateway (Just put in the modem IP address, or your router's if you go through one)
DHCP Client options - No clue, I leave em blank.

The DHCP/Static is the same as in Windows, just decide whether to DHCP(allow router/modem to give you IP address) or pick one in the valid range supplied by your modem/router. They are reffering to your IP address, the Gateway is the router.

No, the SSID, is for wireless only, and is in the wireless section, listed as SSID. The Domain name is a work group, essentially, and you can chose anything. The only downsides are for networking with certain other machines. For instance, Windows XP Home will not browse to members outside its same domain/workgroup.
