suse 9.3 soundcard recommendations?

well i have waited for a few weeks and nobody replied to sort out my soundcard issues with sb live 24, so i am wondering if anyone can recommend a soundcard that i can just plug in and hopefully play with 5.1...im dying with my 2,1 sound system right now, so am just going to go out and buy a new soundcard that will hopefully be supported by linux....

on an "unrelated" note, i got this great new $40 paperweight that looks suspiciously like a soundcard....

It's a little old, but the emu10k1 chipset on the SB Live! X-Gamer 5.1 works on every GNU/Linux distro I've tried in the past 5 or 6 years. If you are looking for something modern, I'm not much help...sorry!

I have the SB Live 7.1 24-bit card. What is your issue with it?

im hoping its something easy that i am just to "dumb" to sort out, tho that will make me look like an even bigger knob...hehe,, but im willing to look stupid iif it means having 5.1 again....didnt realise how good it was, till i had to go back to 2 speakers....its killing me

thanks again
