Suse 9.3 php & pear

Hi!

This is a newb question - i know, but i'll ask it anyway.

I'm new to SuSe and the package management with it.
I need to use apache, mysql and php with pear.
I used yast to install apache2 and mysql, this works fine. But when i use yast to install php4 and pear packages .. phpinfo still shows me that php is compiled without pear.

I used google and searched this forum but i cannot find any posts to help me on this.

Best regards,
MiQ

Well according to http://pear.php.net/manual/en/installation.php PEAR comes with the PHP installation unless you explicitly exclude it.

Quote:
The base installation that comes with the PHP distribution, contains all the stuff that is needed to run the PEAR installation tools etc. If you have a recent installation of PHP, you can relax: The PEAR base installation is already there, unless you have compiled your PHP with the ./configure flag --without-pear.

Could you clarify how you're installing PHP via Yast? Are you using a PHP package from a Suse Installation Source or are you downloading an RPM and installing it via YAST? After you clarify that, could you tell me what the version of the PHP package is. You might fit in the special parameters that the same site says for older PHP packages.
