Suse 9.3 nvidia-7667 install on dell insiron 8100 GeForce2 Go

Hello

I have just installed nvidia drivers 7667 from nvidia homepage on suse9.3
with Online Update done yesterday ..
Compile and install worked fine and configuring also ... but
the display is very bad in colors like they have 8bit instead of 24bit.
With the nv driver from suse it works fine (looks nice 24bit) but
at the left side the display is "flickering"
Config with nv (output of sax2 in X11)
LCD 1600X1200@75HZ
Graphics card: LCD 1600X1200@75HZ nvidia
Color and Resolution: 1600x1200 24 Bit (16.8 Mio.)
Geometry: 1600x1200 94 Khz : 75 Hz 202 MHz

The only difference I see is in Geometry:
Geometry: 1400x1050 65 Khz : 58 Hz 122 MHz
when I use nvidia instead of nv

I have tried to configure with sax2 -m 0=nvidia
and have copied my old config file and replaced nv with nvidia
Tried lower resolution, tried 16bpm etc. etc.
Nothing changes the "bad color scheme" and Geometry remains
in the value above

Any idea?

Thanks

Beat

Hi tkmbe,

Here is something you could try. I have a similar set-up as you (Dell Inspiron 9300 with nvidia geforce go 6800) and I just installed my graphics driver from nvidia yesterday. I am actually supprised that you were able to install the latest driver succesfully. I was unable to. But I did install a driver that is a little older and it works perfectly. Try unistalling the 1.0-7667 driver and install the 1.0-7167 version driver instead. It might solve your problem but I am no expert linux user.
