Suse 9.2 set up diskette drive
Hi,
When I installed 9.2 on my laptop I used the cdrom drive and an ftp install. It recognized the cdrom drive, mounts it, and provides an icon on my gnome desktop. However since my diskette drive was not in the bay during the install it does not recognize it. How can I install my diskette drive and get an icon for it on my desktop? Thanks, Michael |
You'll probably need to just add a line to your fstab file for the floppy drive.

I have added the following line to /etc/fstab
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy subfs fs=floppyfss,rw,users My boot.msg log shows this line /dev/fd0 on /media/floppy type subfs (rw,noexec, nosuid, nodev,fs=floppyfss) The icon appears for the floppy but when I try to access the mount point /media/floppy I get an error message "folder contents cannot be displayed". Is there some other setup I need to do beside updating the fstab file? Michael |
I figured out the problem. On my Dell laptop the floppy disk is a usb device I needed to refer to it as "/dev/sda" instead of "/dev/fd0" and then it all worked.
