SuSE 9,2 Q - Icons on Desktop

Perhaps a petty Q but how do I get the icons on my desktop to stop aligning themselves? I move them to a particular spot and they either right-justify or left-justify to the edge of the screen. I want them where I put them....???...I have looked in Control Center and right-clicked the desktop submenu and no matter what I try the same holds true. Where is the option to turn off alignment?
Thanks for your input/response

Not sure if same for 9.2 but on 10.0 right click the desktop>behaviour>click 'file icons'> and then uncheck 'Automatically line up icons'.
