SuSE 9.2 LCD Monitor Problem

I recently bought Dell Ultra Sharp 19" LCD monitor and installed it on my computer. I opted to use the DVI cable. The first boot to SuSE9.2 went normal, but about 2/3 of the way through, the monitor power light went from green to amber (meaning no input). I shut the computer and monitor down and installed the VGA cable. Same thing, about 2/3 of the way through (I believe my boot screen shows "initializing devices" the monitor power light went amber.

I decided that it must not be seeing the new monitor, and I decided to go ahead and do a re-install. That went flawlessly and I checked the box to "start YaST" so I could make sure it was detecting everything.

Everything looked good, but it still doesn't work.

I also know that it would be helpful if I posted all the things listed in the "before you post" post, but I have no idea how to. If someone will point a newbie in the right direction, I'll try to find all that info and edit this message accordingly.

Hi NCAussie,

seems, like your display-settings are not supportet by the LCD. Do you get a message like "Signal out of sync" or something like that?

Does your suse continue booting, when the screen-light goes to amber?
If it does, you can try to alter to another console with "CTRL-ALT-F2".
When you get to another console, try to change to init 3 and run sax2.
(When there is still a installed suse on the system.)

If nothing helps, try to install suse with failsave options.
You also can change display-settings for install on the first screen of the installation-boot-screen.
Try 640x480 (I know it's ugly ..:D )

Hope it helps - otherwise let me know ...

I figured it out

I booted to "failsafe" and then entered "yast" and set my monitor up as a laptop lcd and it seems to work well.

Thanks everyone!
