SuSE 9.2 ipv6 keeps loading

Hi,

I installed SuSE 9.2 and it still keeps loading the ipv6 module. I already changed /etc/modprobe.conf like it worked for SuSE 9.1:

alias net-pf-10 ipv6
install net-pf-10 /bin/true

and

alias sit0 ipv6
install sit0 /bin/true

It still keeps loading on startup. Does someone have an idea?

Hi,
I've also been having very slow net connections and browsing in SuSE 9.2Pro.
In 9.1Pro I did the same commands for turning off ipv6. In 9.2 with KDE, they say that ipv6 is turned off by default.
On one of my 9.2 machines I did the first command you showed, in modprob.conf, and in the other I have not put it in, but they both run slow.

How are you telling that ipv6 is still loaded and slowing you down?

I'd like to see for my self. Maybe both of my machines have the same ipv6 is loaded issue.

The command lsmod shows that the module is loaded and that lots of devices are using it.

The instructions I saw for disabling ipv6 for 9.1 series here had a different method?

Might be worth a try
