Does anyone know where i can download SuSE 9.2 cd iso's? i don't have a dvd burner so the dvd iso doesn't work for me. and so i want them on CDs, where can i download.
p.s. out of the blue, what exactally does parse mean?
You can't download 9.2 CD ISO's except maybe some older beta or ripped versions. The official way of getting 9.2 without DVD is to download the mini-installation ISO and install it from FTP. Another way is to download the whole FTP tree and deposit it on a local disk, then boot from the mini ISO and use the local source.
Use any FTP client and copy everything under 9.2. Sounds like you are using a browser?! Be aware that this is a huge amount of software and sources (14,8 GB). Maybe you want to skip the src and ix86_64 subdirectories.
Still enjoying to talk to yourself, btw? This is no chat, you should give people a little more time than 1 minute.
will everything still work if i skip the src and ix86_64 subdirectories? and what exatally is a FTP client, i don't know anything, i just got a quick internet the other day and i am seizing the moment and don't know how to.............
last time i tried bit torrent it went way way slow, it was talking about 100 hours for downloads, so i said, thats it, im quiting and finding better way!
You may use konqueror as ftp client. Simply type the url in the 'Location' field and see what happens. You can copy the folders by drag&drop.
And yes, it will most probably work without src and ix86_64 (the later only if you have a 32bit system), since these packages are not installed by default.
I'll give it a whirl! thanx man. what is the difference between just a web browser, and ftp client, and anything else thats alike? i want as much info as i can get......
FTP is a network protocol for file transfer. A FTP client uses this protocol to copy files from a remote location to your local disk. A browser usually uses the http protocol to display webpages. But since they want to make browser as flexible as possible, they added the FTP protocol. That is why you are able to download from FTP servers with your browser. This is fine as long as you want to download just a single file, but when it comes to larger structures, the FTP client offers more functionality because it was made for this purpose. You can also use many FTP clients to view files on the server, but this is not what it is made for and it will work better with a browser.
