Suse 9.2 and DSL modem...?

For some reason when I install Suse 9.2, it won't detect my internet connection! It also won't detect my mouse during install, but once everything is done, I know how to fix that easily through Yast (tho it still should detect it anyway). And the wird thing is it happens to Suse 9.1 too, except ONLY on hard drive installs. I tried using the Suse 9.1 Live CD, and it detected my internet flawlessly. So what would cause this? Is there a way to save the internet connection settings of the Live 9.1, to the hard drive, and have Suse 9.2 use those?

It would be nice if you actually decided to put a few details into this. Such as what computer, what modem?

A Westell Wirespeed modem? (from Bellsouth)

Also, I just installed Suse 9.2 via VMware (with the NAT settings for internet), and it worked...:P Now why can Suse detect my DSL virtually and not for real?
