i needed to reset the pc that stopped working before suse was on the screen at all. the last line written in the f2-menue:
STARTING CRON DAEMON
anyone here knows the problem? is this a common bug, nothing to worry about or a sign that something might be wrong with my pc?
it may be wired - trying to solve my soundproblems with a restart (i used to use windows... ) linux ran konqueror without me asking for it. it showed a failure message that obviously was cut off:

Listing folders is not supported for protocol about
what might be the meaning? i could need an oracle here...
Try booting off of your SuSE CD as if you were going to do an install. It will ask you what language you wan hit OK then it should give you the install menu, one of the options should be to repair a currant install chose that one. it will run a file system check as well as check to make sure non of the installed packages are corrupted. It takes about 15 minutes or so to run but you will want to sit there because it will verify some things through out the process. I use to have a laptop that would do this sort of thing all the time before it died a few months ago and 99.99% of the time this has worked for me. the only time it didn't work was on my brothers computer an was because he had damaged a system file file.
thank you very much, i'll try it! any idea, how a file might have been damaged? i just installed skype, that's so far all i can remember. i am doing an upgrade right now (as mentioned in the other thread), will this check the potential problem also?
i tried it and it says "this product only offers a new installation". since yesterday morning konqueror freezes after some minutes use, all the information inside (like text in a forum window) is lost then.

p.s.: how do i connect firefox to my start menue? is there an easy way??
