Suse 9.1 imaging

I'm hitting a brick wall on imaging Suse Linux 9.1 Personal. If I capture a disk image (using Ghost or similar product) I cannot deploy that image on a different box due to the new mac-based addressing of the NICs. This is an issue with VMware images as well - they can't be used on machines other than the ones they were produced on.

In this situation, I don't want unique and persistent interface names. I'd like to revert to eth0 = first NIC found behavior or work around this new naming convention so that I can build a generic disk image suitable for booting an any similarly comfigured box without need for floppy or human intervention.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious here.

Any ideas?
