I had the problem of low sound quality.
The hint with the digital playback option was superb. Try this: Remove the CD from the drive and restart KsCD. Then you can select a e.g. /media/dvd as a drive and check 'Use direct digital playback' (SuSe 9.2) |
so one could use the cable from the cd to the soundcard or use the ide cable and digital playback. Which one is more economical from the cpu/memory load point of view?

Do you know how much less economical? And how about sound quality?

SuSE 9.1-Can't hear ....music...

I'm a Linux openSUSE 9.3 newbie with a KDE desktop and can't receive sound using KsCD, although the KsCD application can read the CD titles as the CD (extension *.cda, not MP3 format) plays on a newly installed Sony (DVD/CD R/RW-800A); the volume is ~87%. I've been looking for solutions (Post:SuSE 9.3-music Sound Does Not Work introduced on 11/23/05)and am interested in your TotemPlayer option. Internet indicates that TotemPlayer requires the Gnome desktop. I was wondering if you and other contributors using TotemPlayer have Gnome as the active desktop? Would KDE also work? Sincerely, langbein :study: |
