Suse 10 Hangs on Install @ searching for info file

Well, my problem is in the subject....
10.0 OSS hangs on the install at "searching for info file". It activates the USB and 1394 ports then hangs @ "searching for info file" and goes no further.

Currently I am running Suse 9.1 and I wish to upgrade. I have searched and read through several threads of others with similar problems (typically on Dell laptops??). My machine is a custom built and I have NEVER had trouble installing Suse before. I have tried redownloading and multiple times from different mirrors. I have tried using the online install boot disk and it still hangs.

Is there a solution to this problem??

Hardware:
Soyo KT-400 Platinum
AMD 2600+ barton
nVidia GeForce4 ti4600
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
1GB PC2700 SDRAM

I get no hardware errors whatsoever that I have seen.

I read a suggestion that this could be caused by SATA or RAID motherboards... I have no SATA on my board but the drive is in a RAID slot (no raid enabled though -- so it acts as another IDE connection). This was no problem when I installed 9.1 a while back... is this a new problem isolated to the newer kernel?

I had the same problem! IF you press F3 (I think) for Advanced Options in boot, and type ide=nodma in the options, it should work.

good work

For anyone else having this problem - ide=nodma is the answer.

I was able to get passed the 'searching for info file.....' hanger the first time i used this string.
