suse 10 gui
 

hi everyone. i need help badly. i am a noob in linux, but i know some things. my questions is this: how can i get suse to boot into graphics mode by default? here's some background that might help: i have been running suse 10 since it came out with no problems and loving it. i update whenever there are new updates and have been doing so both on my laptop and desktop. i signed out of my desktop one day and the next time i booted into it, suse loaded into command line mode and i am not sure why. so i logged in and typed "startx". i got the following error thrown back at me:

sorry for the lenghty message but i realize that the more info i give, the better help i can get. now i realize by the error message that it can't load x, but i don't know why or what i can do about it. i tried going into the config file it references but quickly realized that not only do i not know what to do once in it, but also that my vi skills suck! so i did what all helpless noobs do and reinstalled only to find the same exact thing happening after i finished the reinstall. i'm stumped. please help.

Try running, as root, this command:This will re-write the configuration file.
Caution: Back up the file first!
Also: You will need your monitor's horizontal and vertical sync/refresh rates. These can be found in your monitor's documentation.
