SuSE 10.1 x64 - unable to boot from HD during installation

Hello there!

I have a new x64 system on which I installed SUSE 10.1 x64 from the DVD. Installation runs fine, but when the system reboots to start from the HD, there is nothing, not even a message from GRUB.

The HD (SATA) is accessible when booting from CD/DVD. Other distributions (e.g. Kubuntu) work fine.

As far as I can say, there is a problem with the GRUB setup. Can anyone tell me how to fix that?

I've got the exact same problem. But I had also an ide hdd and installed on that the grub loader.
I know it's not a perfect solution but it works.

I was not able to fix the problem, but I would be pleased if somebody else posted a solution here...

As far as I can see it seems to be a SUSE topic in combination with SATA HDs - right?
