suse 10.1 video problem
 

I have recently installed suse 10.1 and did a gnome install. after it was complete i tryed to boot it up and it went black screen. so i reinstalled for the text version (after i tried all other versions)
here are some specs

p3
intel chipset
nvidia tnt2 pci vid
3 9 gig scsi

i installed the nvidia driver off the site for the linux and it installed flawlessly.
it created a kernel and installed the package. ive done a full you update. if i try to start a x server it will blackscreen if i try sax2 it blackscreens (even in failsafe). i tried to go to the text yast and config the monitor and vid card but it doesnt open up. if ne one know a post for this or can help me i will be very greatful. ty

When your in the konsole, and type: startx

What error do you get when it goes back? If it don't go back you could go back with ctrl+alt+backspace

And then you should see an error line.

i did actually write down an error


Sorry could not open /dev/fb0...Abort at /usr/share/sax/init.pl line 605

I get this error now whenever i try to open ne sax2
