SuSE 10.1 SMTP IMAP configuration

i am trying to set up a University of Washington IMAP server with sendmail to use on Squirrel Mail. first of all, does anyone know a good well known IMAP server besides the UW one, second, how to configure it, and third, how to make it work with squirrel mail

last time i checked wu-imap has a pretty poor reputation. i've been using dovecot (with postfix and a MailDir filesystem) (oh and with squirrelmail) for the last few years with an awful lot of success

not really, just tackle things as seperate projects, as long as each part works correctly the whole will naturally come together. first get smtp delivering mail to disk the way you want, then overlay imap and then webmail.

I'm not able to just explain how to set up two entire servers from scratch, you need to follow the standard documentation and ask about the individual bits you're having trouble with. for maildir, just google for "postfix maildir" and the very first hit is this... http://www.postfix.org/faq.html#maildir which should be enough to get that much sorted.
