subs+movie

Hi,
I would like to how to make an .avi movie with an .srt subtitle file one.I have tried with mencoder but it failed.Could you help me??

looking around, i found this:

so in there, it says that you need to add "-sub [filename].srt" and "-utf8" (the encoding, you might need to change this?)

you may want to look in the man page for mencoder to see how to change the subtitle appearance.

Do you know another way to do what I want without using mencoder??

You can try Avidemux, a very good piece of software for video editing. It has a built-in filter to add subtitles, as described here.
