This is a little strange. The folder should be where you created it previously. Folders usually don't disappear unless you delete them.
One critical issue could be the location of the ISO file. Sometimes Linux acts a little strange if a file is on a Windows partition. If you really want to get this going, I suggest you copy the ISO to a Linux partition and keep the correct paths in mind. A very nice trick is to use TAB-completion: start typing the path (some letters) and press TAB. If the respective file/folder exists, Linux will fill-out the rest for you. Forget about the ./myfolder-thing and use the absolute paths to both the ISO and the mountpoint.
The command-line may appear a little frightening in the beginning, but it may become your best friend in a while.
