Standard Server 8 Samba
Greetings
I switched my home server from RH9 to SuSE Server 8 (Had a copy laying around form a Novell conference, thought i should put it to use). The problem is, Server 8's default Samba configuration is inter-dependent with LDAP. I refuse to use LDAP, i find it useless, especially in a small home network. Any ideas on how to fix this, or a work-around. I would prefer to remove LDAP altogether......THX if anyone can help. |
You could download and install samba from source. That way you can configure it the way you want.

Greetings.
Tried it. SuSE refuses to install the package. |
You did ./configure....;make;make install?
Any error messages? |
Greetings.
Yes, and at the make install, SUSE refuses to install the package. |
