Special Functions For Extra Mouse Buttons?

I have a intellimouse explorer 4.0a, and after adding

Option "ButtonMapping" "1 2 3 8 9"

to mouse options inside xorg.conf, all five buttons are recognized in sax2. Now, how do I add some actual functions to these buttons?
Specifically, I would like to map buttons recognized as 2,8,9 to cut, copy, paste functions.

I'm also curious.

I have a 5 button Microsoft Wireless Laser 6000 mouse and matching keyboard with tons of buttons that I can't use. Sax2 just says "button clicked" when i click them. otherwise they just act as the left mouse button.

i've done a few searched and can't really find anything.
