Question Sound via loud speackers on dell xps 1330

Hi!
I've just installed (and updated) OpenSuse 10.3 on my Dell XPS 1330 laptop, but I have no sound via integrated loud speackers. I've tryed to use yhis instruction, but it still didn't start working.
BTW, it works on *buntu, I've tryed booting livecd. I've copied /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base. Could it be helpful?
Audio card is 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller. Uses snd-hda-intel module.
I have no idea, what can be wrong. =\
Any ideas?
Thanks!

When I did my last few SuSE installs, the speakers would be muted by default, for some reason. I had to fire up the mixer (alsamixer, or whatever GUI based mixer you choose), and un-mute the speakers. Then had to turn the volume up, too, but things worked fine from there.

Have you checked that out? What happens if you try to play a sound file from the command-line, with something like "play <sound file name>"? Any errors?

Yep. I could hear sound in headphones.
I've found the answer.
Sound does not function on the M1330 until at least version 1.0.15rc1 of the ALSA drivers are installed. So I've added openSUSE audio repo http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...E_10.3_Update/
http://download.opensuse.org/reposit.../openSUSE_10.3
And updated ALSA.
Then I've added a parameter to my sound card in the YAST2 Sound module. Add -> model -> laptop-eapd
But sound didn't work. So I decided to play with fortune and started installing almost all with keywords alsa, sound, mixer and so on. After reboot I had the sound. o_O

But my friend couldn't install even alsa-modules package. Package Manager says that kernel must be uninstalled first. %( Hope to solve this problem too.
