Soft Raid for dummies?

Having two identical hard disks, I thought I would try installing Soft Raid level 1 in Suse 9.2. I've tried several variations, but each time, KDE fails to start. I have put /boot and swap on non-raid partitions. Reading the howto:

http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-RAID-HOWTO-7.html

it seems like one should be able to put the root folder on raid and YaST does not protest when I configure / as a raid 1 partition. Still, it does not work.

Does anyone have a simple configuration that works?

Hmmm... not sure. KDE and RAID should have nothing to do with each other. Does the machine boot at all? Might want to change your default runlevel to 3 (non graphical) and troubleshoot.

YAST should be able to help you with the RAID setup... as well as runlevels.
