Soft Raid for dummies?
Having two identical hard disks, I thought I would try installing Soft Raid level 1 in Suse 9.2. I've tried several variations, but each time, KDE fails to start. I have put /boot and swap on non-raid partitions. Reading the howto:
http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-RAID-HOWTO-7.html it seems like one should be able to put the root folder on raid and YaST does not protest when I configure / as a raid 1 partition. Still, it does not work. Does anyone have a simple configuration that works? Jonas |
Hmmm... not sure. KDE and RAID should have nothing to do with each other. Does the machine boot at all? Might want to change your default runlevel to 3 (non graphical) and troubleshoot.
YAST should be able to help you with the RAID setup... as well as runlevels. |
