shortcut to switch keyboard layout in KDE

I use the default Suse 9.1 configuration with KDE.

If I am in the first layout (English) and switch using the default shortcut key (Alt+Ctrl+K) it switches to the 2nd keyboard layout.
If I then press the shortcut again it DOES NOT switch back to the first layout.
The only way to switch back to English is to click on the "KDE keyboard tool" icon next to the clock.

Why does the shortcut switch only from 1st to 2nd and not back?

How do I change this?

Hey ihristov,
your question is over 17 years old now but I'm on Plasma 5.25 and I find myself having the same issue. Did you resolve it eventually and if yes, could you please tell me how you did it?
