I need to learn how to configure my epson.config file, and the back end. I have no scanner access with my Epson Stylus 5400 all in one, and have been told that a manual configuration will work. I have no idea how to do this, I have played around with linux a bit, have set up Samba between two machines...but I need some help with this one too..

Do you have "sane" installed? (sane stands for Scanner Access Now Easy). It should come by default with your SuSE. My wife's Epson 1260 scanner installed very easily on her SuSE-10.0 boot partition.
In case you are curious, web site for SANE (although you probably do not need to visit this site to set things up). http://www.sane-project.org/

I have the same problem with a Samsung SCX-4100. They provided drivers, and the appropriate files were copied into usr/lib/sane and /usr/local/lib/sane and /usr/local/bin, but when I try to configure my Scanner (from Control Center->Hardware), it isn't even in the list.
