sax2 will not open

I just upgraded to the x86_64 suse 10.1. When I try to open sax 2 I get the following outcome:
SaX: root Password:
SaX: Checking update status for nvidia driver
SaX: Checking update status for nvidia driver
SaX: initialization already done
SaX: call [ sax2 -r ] if your system has changed !

SaX: startup
SaX: X-Server: :0.0 -> grant
SaX: importing current configuration...

markus@sweetMachine:~> sax2 -r
SaX: root Password:
SaX: initializing please wait...
SaX: your current configuration will not be read in

SaX: access to your display has been granted
SaX: ups lost card during probing... abort at /usr/share/sax/init.pl line 619.

and it quits. I googled it and found a similar help file, and when I enter the command: sax2 -c1 sax2 comes up fine with the correct graphics card and screen resolution. However, this does not carry over to the rest of the computer and I cannot change my desktop resolution and all my 3d games tell me I don't have hardware support.

My current system is intel core2 with two nvidia 7600GS graphics cards.

I find it easier to go to the nvidia website and download the driver and SuSE instructions to update/upgrade the nvidia driver.

Second easiest it to do it via YaST - Software - Online Update. When you get to the next screen, click Next one time. In the following screen, look for Show Patch Category, and select Installable and Installed. Deleselect everyting but the nvidia driver. Finish the update.

Be advised that, in future, anytime you do an online update that includes kernel update, you will have to re-install the nvidia driver.
