Root login and upgrade problems.
Guys,
I'm having a couple of problems that I need help with. 1. I tried upgrading SuSe 9.2 to 9.3. When I tried to do a FTP install, it just gives me a "installation failed" message. I'm trying to download from FTP.SUSE.COM. Any idea what the problem is ? The FTP install doesn't work from the other mirrors. I'm guessing that it's because of the non-existence of the autorun files? There certainly is a difference in the files between the "current" folder in FTP.SUSE.COM and the other mirrors. 2. I upgraded to KDE 4.3. Now, it won't let me login as Root. I had edited a file and got this working in the earlier version. Can't remember it now. Help! Yeah.. yeah... I shouldn't login as Root. I know. I just want the option. Another question. Now that I've upgraded KDE (using KDE4.3 for Suse 9.2), would it cause any compatibility issues if I upgrade Suse to 9.3 ? |
to 1.: it won't work until 9.3 is released on FTP. What you see on the server is the FTP ADD-ON for user of the boxed version without DVD drive.
to 2.: can't help, since I would never do it ;) |
9.3 isn't released yet on ftp ,so you can't get it that way.
Either buy the DVD's or get it elsewhere ;) Upgrading KDE from 3.3 to 3.4 has a root login bug. Seems you can't graphically login as root with the upgrade. |
