Resolution in KDE 3.4, SuSE 10.0, Not Above 1024x768

Hi All,
I've got the retail version of SuSE 10.0 running with KDE 3.4, on a Dell Lattitude D610 with a SXGA+ screen which is 1400x1050. I can see in YAST > SAX2 that the resolution is set to 1400x1050, but in Control Center > Peripherals > Display, it says the Screen Size is only 1024x768. And on that clickdown button it shows 1024x78 as the highest resolution I can do the desktop at.
So how do I get the KDE to let me use a 1400 x 1050 desktop. Everything is too big and clunky now.
Thanks R

Hi, I had a same exact problem but with different resolution though(1920x1200).
KDE won't go over 1600x1024 in my case. Please refer to my resolution. It should give you a clue on how to fix your case.

1400x1050 LCD Panel, What refresh rate?

Hi All,
I did make some progress. I'd rather not hand edit my SAX2 config file like Ghostbox suggests, to hazardous.
But I did find that it was due to SAX2 misidentifying my monitor, when it automatically configured. it choose an obscure monitor, and when I changed it to a LCD 1400x1050x60hz, in SAX2, then it got better.
But even then the KDE kept the KDE resolution of the desktop one step down from the native resolution of the monitor. So KDE desktop moved from 1024x768 to 1280xsomething.
So I'm still baffled why the KDE resolution stays one level lower than the resolution that SAX2 is willing to configure the Xserver.

I wonder if I say its a 1400x1050x70hz LCD Panel will this get the KDE to run at the right resolution?

What is the max refresh rate of a notebook LCD panel. ? 60 hz or 70 hz

R
