Hi there! I am an old suse user till version 8.1 ! I have stopped using suse linux for about one year. I want to try my favourite distro again! Is the latest version (10.3?) stable enough?
Do u know if novell have solved many instabilities that previous suse versions had like Yast crashes?
Is it possible to download suse for free?
http://www.opensuse.org is the link you need; you'll be able to download and read up on the latest feature. In my opinion Suse is still one of the best and Yast has always been solid in my experience.
The last stable version is 11.1. If you refer to the Yast online update problems, they were solved in 10.3. Moreover the new 11.x releases really speed up the refreshing of the repositories cache when you launch the Software Manager or when you run zypper (that was the only annoying issue in previous releases).
I had massive problems with Virtualbox in 11.1. I also am torn between KDE 4 and KDE 3 with Compiz/Emerald. 11.1 was absolutely plagued with issues in Compiz. IMHO, 10.3 is easier to work with than the latest releases. BTW, a mature KDE 4 is available for 10.3 in the repositories.

I haven't yet seen a kde 4.x release that I would describe as ready. Its getting closer, but, for me, it hasn't happened yet. Fortunately kde 3.x is still available in 11.1.

I agree. By "mature," I mean that it runs longer than 4 minutes!
