Problem with PDF in Firefox in OpenSUSE
I've had this issue since OpenSUSE 10.5 and Firefox 2.x. Now I'm on OpenSUSE 11.2 and Firefox 3.5.6. Here's the issue: I log into various sites to get my bank statements, utility bills, etc. They are all in PDF, and they open up acrobat reader and from there I save the bill as a permanent record. The first one I open opens fine. Subsequent sessions with subsequent providers (banks, whatever) opens up a new window as if to show me the PDF, but no PDF is there. Status on the window shows "done." No error messages. I have to shut firefox down, restart, log in again, and then it downloads fine. It's getting annoying.
Thanks in advance for any and all ideas. |
Two questions...
Does it happen only when you download PDF from sites that have encryption? Does the same thing happen if you use the KDE viewer Okular? |
When it happens
All the sites I care about where this happens are using encryption. And to clarify: the problem happens when firfox is managing the file stream for me -- not when it offers to let me download it -- but when it opens a new window or a new tab and attempts to display the pdf file for me. I never explicitly configured this. Something set it up for me, and I became a user at that point. And I suppose that since I installed acrobat reader, then it decided it should use that software.
