Code:
X11 error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)?,?% 0 0
Uh oh! It looks like its your Xserver.... bad.. It looks like its reporting a problem related to memory not availible. Do you have another graphics card etc? Other than that... X.org updates MIGHT help.. But then you would probably suffer dependency hell. have you tried a lower resolution? (Via SaX2, change the moniter to Vesa, and select a resolution and it will force it, and then change the resolution to whatever you choose for the moniter.)

think a lower res would take less memory. You could consider upgrading your pc a bit, but it would piss you (and me if i were you) to buy something if it didn't work...

I run my linux box for extremely long piriods of time and after a while it might start giving this error along with some really weird artifacts on the screen.

Hope you figure it out. If you get the mplayer gui, find settings and look for the video out. Change it to something else and it might fix the prob. In console mplayer, i only know how to play a video. I think the -vo param specifies the video out used, but i dont remember what the possible values are. Good luck.

the resolution change didn't do anything for mplayer so I messed around with the mplayer's settings and got the sound working(wasn't working before). Then I messed with the video in mplayer snd found out the only driver that worked(sort of) was xll. The video was a little slow and the error message was overlapping the video saying "Too many video packets in the buffer(280 in 8405812 bytes). Is it a video card issue or do I need to upgrade x ?

Have you tried more than one .wmv file? I wonder if the one you have is poorly encoded.

Try this one: http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/sw...niel_FINAL.wmv

It is one I did last year of my rugrat playing with a toy lightsaber as a test. It does work on my 10.0 and 10.1 systems under kaffeine, mplayer and noatun. I belive it also works on my mother's 9.2 system.

Let me know.

Hmmm, it seems to work on small screen videos with no problem. It seems to have problems with fullscreen videos like video game videos you get off the net. Almost there but not quite. By the way, nice lightsaber video, PerfectReign! What do you think?

I think the problem may be that it can't handle high quality .wmv videos

Thumbs up

Mine works. Here's what I did to get my DVD's to play and I guess it sorted the wmvs to.

1.I uninstalled all the xine files that are installed by default.
2.Go to http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/
3.Download:
libdvdcss-1.2.8-2.network.i386.rpm
libdvdcss-devel-1.2.8-2.network.i386.rpm
libxine1-1.1.3-060831.i586.rpm
libxine1-devel-1.1.3-060831.i586.rpm
w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm
xine-ui-0.99.4cvs-051003.i586.rpm
"w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm" is believe to sort your problem, but I recommend installing all of them.

LOL! Thanks. I was goofing around with some video editors to see what I could do.

Can you point to some examples? I'd like to try myself.

No problem, here are a couple that were giving me fits.

http://www.gamershell.com/download_14837.shtml

It's a pretty good site for video and PC games.
Let me know if it worked for you or not.

BTW I used mencoder to convert to avi and it worked although the quality was not very good.
