Pepare kernel source in 10.2

Hi I'm using suse 10.2 and much alike many other people am having problems getting my Edimax EW-7128g (RT61 chipset) wireless pci card to work. I gather that the drivers that come packaged with suse 10.2 will not work.
I have downloaded the latest drivers from serialmonkey, but hit a brick wall as soon as I start to follow the instructions. The problems are as follows : -
The instructions say
Prepare your kernel source -

# cd /usr/src/linux
# make mrproper
# make cloneconfig
# make modules_prepare

Now thats fine except /usr/src/linux does not exist.
But I do have /usr/src/linux-2.6.18.2-34-obj/ /usr/src/packages/ .
Now do I mkdir /usr/src/linux or do I prepare the kernel source elsewhere?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I think you are doing things the wrong way. Make sure you have the kernel-source package installed. After that extract the drivers and cd into the Module directory and do make and make install as root.

you need to INSTALL suse kernel sources (use yast). Sources must be in sync with installed kernel (exactly the same versions)

this:
Quote:
# cd /usr/src/linux
# make mrproper
# make cloneconfig
# make modules_prepare
is not required

Thanks, I installed kernel sources, and all became clear.
Thanks once more
