Hey

I want to install pam mysql on my linux machine so I can have cyrus and vsftpd authenticate against a list of users in the mySQL database.

I am running SuSe 9.0, mysql 4.0.15.

I found an rpm called pam-mysql-0.5-3mdk.i586.rpm But it will not install it says:

linux:~ # rpm -ivh pam-mysql-0.5-3mdk.i586.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libmysql12 is needed by pam-mysql-0.5-3mdk

I have installed the mysql-shared package which installs amongst other things, libmysqlclient.so.12, So what is my problem?

Is there a package I am missing, or have I totally approached this the wrong way?

hey,

I know this is like 11 days late, but I just read your post while I was looking for similar help.
In the event that you haven't figured this, heres your solution:

goto rpmfind.net and search for any failed dependancies, download and install them first then try installing pam_mysql*.rpm again.

rpmfind.net is good for finding the best rpm's for any arch and the latest versions, it also lists the dependancies for each rpm and you can follow the links to get rpm's for the dependancies straight up.
