Optical drives on Suse 9.2

I am currently running 9.2 pro and I am having problems with my optical drives in terms of reading and writing with either of them.

I will explain the history of the issue which I hope will go some way to help someone understand the problem I am experiencing.

I bought a nice sparkly new NEC DVD R/RW which I installed under Suse 9.1 along with a fire wire pci card and a USB 2.0 card both worked fine at the time and were a pleasure to use burned data DVD using DVD drive and was able to use USB card but fire wire was not properly configured.

Then Suse 9.2 came out and I figured that installing that would fix my firewire issue and I would also have nice up to date system. Firewire and USB 2.0 worked fine but nw neither my dvd drive or my dvd recorder would work. I tried to use K3B and it told me it could not find a suitable optical drive.

I since tried to reinstall my previous optical drive which was a straight forward 32x4x4 (i think) and this is not being recognised either.

I have copied my fstab into this post for you to see what mount points are currently in place

FSTAB
/dev/hda2 / reiserfs acl,user_xattr 1 1
/dev/hda1 swap swap pri=42 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
/dev/dvd /media/dvd subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy subfs fs=floppyfss,procuid,nodev,nosuid,sync 0 0
/dev/hdb1 /home/jason/storage reiserfs acl,user_xattr 0 0
/dev/dvdrecorder /media/dvdrecorder subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/sda2 /mnt/ipod vfat rw,users 0 0

/dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0

I have notice that there are 4 separate optical drives listed and wondered if this might be part of the problem?
So would anyone be able to tell me how to get Suse to recognise the dvdrecorder drive and the dvd drive. I wanted my dvd recorder to me my main optical drive and the second drive as an extra.
Further more when installing the drives into the case do I need to move the little peg around between master and slave?

The drives are detected on boot and I can boot from knopix + suse disks etc.

cheers in advance
J

Problem solved:

I checked the plugs on the back of the drive to make sure that it was set to master (optical drive).

Then I placed Suse 9.2 disk in the drive and rebooted the pc. Then I ran the custom repair installation tool had it check my fstab entries and then it removed some random entries that I had in the fstab (not completely sure how they came about).
Finished repair program.

Rebooted pc all drives detected and Drive ran smoothly with K3B both cd and dvd burning
