openSUSE File Manager

Is it a common occurrence for a file manager to take a very long time to load when selecting a folder that has a large amount of files within it? Say 50,000 jpg's? Is there a way to cut down the load time significantly?

If it is trying to display thumbnails of all the images, sure.
