Openoffice 2

Is there anyone who knows when openoffice 2 (not the beta release which came with SUSE 10) will be available as a Yast update?

Suse usually test it and iron out any bugs then provide it as an upgrade. Since OOo2 has been released for a while now, I'd say anytime soon. If you can't wait just uninstall tha Suse version and install the OOo version.

You are better of uninstalling the old version to prevent any file conflicts. Most rpms will uninstall an old version but since they will be from different sources, I'd uninstall the old one first.

The RPM file names in the Openoffice.org 2.0 are a little different than the office release shipped with SuSE 10.0. The result is you will have both versions installed if you install the Openoffice RPMs. Both versions will work but your Kmenu will be a little confused. It will take a bit of work with file associations to straiten things out. You're probably better off uninstalling SuSE's Openoffice and then installing from Openoffice.org.
