I've had a similar problem after upgrading KDE to 3.3 (or3.2?). The original links did not work anymore, but I could start it throught the link/script in my user directory (/home/user/OpenOffice.org1.1/soffice).

Maybe this works for you, too.

I had a sililar problem after installing the baghira theme. If you've installed it, try uninstalling it.

as posted above, you can just change your icons/menu to point to the actual file in your home/OpenOffice directory

soffice -writer for writer
soffice -calc for calc/spreadsheets
soffice -impress for powerpoint-like presentations
soffice -draw

you get it...
For some reason, KDE update breaks the links in Suse. Haven't run Baghira in a while, but presumably the same problem...
