guys I test alot of distros on various hardware and with various apps to see how they work together.Suse 9.3 looks smooth but here is a few criticisms 1. since 9.1 they had a prob with the size of app bar and still never fixed it ,I mean its a easy fix but still anoying.
2. 9.3 has some problem with usb mouse that I have not seen before it install with it and upon first boot asks you to configure it then it freezes, I dont know why.
3. cedega new version breaks suse 9.3 oh it installs fine but I wanna see anyone install a game upon reboot its done I had to reinstall.
Good things!! they have a smooth desktop as good as any I have seen it is very bloated with entire kde base and all .OPen office is tweaked to perfection.
The mouse problem may be fixed if you plug in a standard mouse PS2 as well as the USB when you think it freezes use the other mouse. In the end you can usually remove the PS2 mouse.
This occured on MDK 9.2 and might be the same bug that hasn't been fixed yet.
I've also had SuSE 9.3 come up with the cursor frozen on the screen. Hasn't done that for a while though. I found that if I started YaST and went to Hardware - Mouse, the mouse started to work again just by virtue of YaST discovering its configuration.
The fixes are mostly easy the problem is that this is a professional distro that charges money .Now I like Suse but the APP icon problem has been around since 9.1 the sound problem since 9.1 .Solution to the mouse problem is easy Plug in a ps2 mouse as well as usb and configure YAST for usb , but these problems should not be ongoing in a professionally produced linux distro.
Point well taken. I would think some of these issues would be show stoppers come release time because they make an otherwise great product look bad. The whole DVD and MP3 thing is also a pain. However, I think I will stick with SuSE a bit longer.
