No sound after suspend

Hi,

Sound works fine on my AMD XP2000+/suse10.1 system, whenever I reboot the machine. However, there is no sound in any application when it recommences following suspend.

There are text messages like:

pnp: failed to activate device 00:0b
pnp: failed to activate device 00:0c

which appear after the copying of the machine state has just completed, but before the password dialogue appears or the desktop initiates.

Any ideas??

thanks in advance.

regards.... andrew.

Hi.

Fixed, sort of. Problem was with the KDE logout - suspend button functions. Using swsusp from bash terminal does not create same problem.

However, swsusp returns "must be superuser", so I have to su root first. I checked permissions on the /sbin/swsusp file, which has x permission for root, user and world.

I wonder why I can't run it without going to su first?

This is important because when the machine resumes there is no password prompt, and the bash session is still there, with su status.

How can I force password check upon resume, and also (hopefully) close that bash session?

regards.... andrew.
