I have 2 servers running SuSE Enterprise 9 and one of them has a free 200GB file system I want to use to backup a Database on the other Server, I want to use NFS for this but I've been reading about the hard a soft options and have done some tests about getting the nfs server offline while keeping the FS mounted on the other server but I don't really see the diference or maybe I just don't know how to manage the situation yet when the NFS Server goes down and the process on the other server "hangs"...
Which method should I use for this case?? How should I manage if the NFS server goes down or offline while the backup is running??
