Network Install using PXe, DHCP, TFTP and FTP
I have suse 10.0 eval cds and i want to install suse on a machine through network
I have a machine running windows, on which i have installed a tftp server, dhcp server, ftp server.
TFTP and DHCP services are provided by program tftpd32
The second machine on which linux is to be installed is booted using PXE boot rom.
I have been able to make this machine load the boot file and also the kernel image file, but in midway an error occurs.
The error is :
NET4: UNIX domain sockets 1.0/SMP for Linux NET4.0.
VFS: Cannot open root device "" or 48:05
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS Unable to mount root fs on 48:05
I am not able to find where should i give the root= option ?
Regarding the vmlinuz and initrd files i just copied them to the tftpboot directory from the first cd of SUSE
Are these two files to be edited or not ?
I am new to linux
