MySQL installation troubles....help plz!

When I execute the command below to install MySQL on Suse 10.1 it seems to work but for a problem. t doesn't create /etc/my.cnf

I tried this a few times, uninstalling and even wiping out /vars/lib/mysql. Does anyone have any ideas? The my.cnf file is in the package and Im logged in as root. Also note the 2 warnings. I have no idea why I get them.

This RPM is dowloaded directly from mysql.com Also, why can't I install this with Yast2?
Code:
#rpm -iv MySQL-server-5.0.24-0.i386.rpm

Preparing packages for installation...
MySQL-server-5.0.24-0

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER !
To do so, start the server, then issue the following commands:
/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'new-password'
/usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h tucsonlx password 'new-password'
See the manual for more instructions.

Please report any problems with the /usr/bin/mysqlbug script!

See:

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/...ion-files.html

"If an option file does not exist, use a text editor and create it."

If my.cnf isn't in /etc/ mySQL will default to the base install directory.

What's wrong with that? It's on the installation media.

I understand I can create it. My question is why didnt the RPM installation extract them from the RPM package and install them? They are in the package.

Because the latest version of MySQL is not on the DVD but I downloaded it. Doesnt Yast allow installation of packages that I downloaded to the hard disk? I thought it was a substitute for RPM manager.

Thanks
