My SUsE 9.1 Pro has gone mad

Has anyone seen this???????????

I have a dual boot system with Win XP and have linked many folders to my fat system. Don't know if there is anything wrong with that, but all my files are stored on my fat partition in one central place (i.e. music, pics etc)

I have a second PC with a minimal suse 9.1 running apache.
I mount my main PC to it and edit my website 'live' with Quanta

I use:
mount PLB:/home/lance /mnt/plb

The second PC has an ip address of 10.0.0.7 (PLB)
the main PC is 10.0.0.3 (MAIN)
The host files have been edited accordingly i.e:

10.0.0.7 PLB.lance PLB etc.. (lance is the network domain name)

Now here is the problem: After some time the systems starts playing up.
K3B will start to compalain of write permission problems with /dev/null
Weird stuff starts to happen and eventually the system will cave in.
If I try and log out it takes me to a promt and I log in as root and type 'halt' and it starts to shutdown - but never does.
After hitting reset the system losses the ability to mount a remote file system and I can't use certian packages (like firefox or K3B). It's darn weird.

The only way out is to do a system repair.

Every time, Yast complains of packages DEVS, POSTFIX and UTIL-LINUX being corrupt and I click ok to re-install them. This will fix the system and I can then mount a remote file system again and get a little work done.

I have been repairing my linux system nearly every time I use it, but it's getting silly. I re-installed SuSE 9.1 Pro three times from scratch - but got exactly the same problems.

I have not got the means to do a YOU update (still on dial-up which would take forever). But if I was told specific packages to update I could probably manage that.

Perhaps it's something I am doing wrong? I dunno.
I payed darn good money for SuSE 9.1 and I am gutted that it don't work.
I certainly won't be buying 9.3 - I just can't aford to run SuSE linux - it's getting expensive.........
