Might need newest drivers for Network Card.

I recently installed Suse Linux 9.3 Professional and I am very new to the Linux OS. I have a 3com Fast EtherLink XL 10/100Mb TX Ethernet NIC (3C905B-TX) network card installed on my computer, but I am unable to get on the internet. The card also shows up on my router with an orange indicator light while my other computers show up as green. This indicates that my computer is connecting at 10 mbps, but it always connected at 100 mbps with Windows and the internet would run fine. Also, the card is currently showing up as a 3C905B and not a 3C905B-TX like it did with windows. The driver currently loaded for it is 3C59x. I have heard the solution to this problem is getting the latest drivers for this card. Could you tell me where I could get the latest drivers for this card and how I would install them.

there will be no latest drivers. forget about that. instead what is actually wrong here? if you run ifconfig, do you have an ip address associated with that NIC? can you ping internal addresses? you can use tools like mii-tool and ethtool to force media speeds if need be.

Acid_kewpie, I spent all of last week investigating if this problem had anything to do with how my router, modem, NIC were configured. I am convinced that this problem has to do with the drivers that were installed for the card. I know I can get the latest drivers from Donald Becker's website, but I was unable to find a driver download for my card. 3com's site offers linux drivers for cards almost like mine, but it doesn't specifically list drivers for my card and system.

this is linux. you don't download drivers from websites. you simply have an updated kernel which already includes 95% of drivers out there. 3com cards are bog standard fair, that haven't substantially changed for eons.
