Manipulating wifi as a normal user

I'm using SuSE 9.2, Dell Latitude D800 with an Intel 2200 WiFi chip. Basically, it works like a champ, but there's one thing I'd like to tweak. As I go from home->office->customer site, I need to tweak my wireless config for different APs and WEP keys. I'm using KWiFiManager, which is pretty cool, except that when I tell it I want to reconfigure the wifi it always prompts me for the root password. I'd like to be able to set it up so that any user in the "root" group would be able to tweak the setup. I tried the obvious brute force approach of making /opt/kde3/bin/kwifimanager setuid root, but then it can't start unless I open up my X permissions. Is there an established way of doing this, or should I go exploring?
