Unhappy lpd not working after exp. some time / RAM problem?

hi@all,

I have a productive system running OpenSuSE 10 with EloquenceDB + SQLR + Samba3 (in ADS) and LPRNG.
After reboot all fine, but after running a few hours, the printqueue/daemon seems not working.

The software developers thought it was something with the configs or so, but didnīt find anything till now....
I looked and the free RAM attract my attention:
after some hours running:
Code:
cat /proc/meminfo
MemTotal: 2054888 kB
MemFree: 20120 kB
after reboot:
Code:
cat /proc/meminfo
MemTotal: 2054888 kB
MemFree: 1814676 kB
....could this be the problem? a simple restart of the daemons (lpd/slq/..) doesnīt help, the machine MUST be rebooted!

any suggestions to fix the problem? thx to all!

You may use "top" on console to find out about the memory usage.
I am using Suse for a long time now and have never seen this problem. Just strange.

Yes I know. Read that itīs "normal" , because of the caching of I/O accesses. Wondering why under SuSE (only?) the MemTotal=LowTotal and LowFree=MemFree !?....but on another SuSE 9.3 itīs the same.

Well, think now itīs not the mem-topic.....SOMETHING happens with the printdaemon (?) when the system restarts!
